Recap uses an account system to model your crypto transactions. Each account within Recap represents a different exchange or wallet where you have made transactions.

As an example, if you have used Coinbase to buy Ethereum and then sent your ETH tokens to an external Ethereum wallet, you would have one account for your Coinbase account and another for your Ethereum wallet.

It is important to add an account for everywhere you have made transactions as Recap needs to know about every acquisition or disposal in order to accurately calculate your taxes.

Recap has the following account types:

  • Exchange API - allows you to automatically import your exchange transactions

  • Wallet - allows you to automatically import your wallet transactions

  • Exchange CSV File - allows you to upload a CSV file that you have downloaded from your exchange

  • Custom - allows you to upload a manually edited CSV file that contains transactions from any source
